Welcome to Phrantic Phonics, a fast-paced phonics programme that delivers results very quickly. It relies on interleaved learning: previous teaching is constantly revisited as new sounds and spellings are introduced. Phrantic Phonics is easy to deliver and fun for children, all of whom experience success. Ideally it should be taught by the class teacher to a whole class in short sessions twice daily. It works particularly well with mixed age groups. It is also ideal for home-schooled children or for parents wishing to reinforce work in school.
Detailed lesson plans for 15 minute sessions are available. Once the first few sessions have been delivered, it should be easy for the teacher or the parent, as the rest of the lessons follow the same format.
The video clips below show how a typical Phrantic Phonics lesson moves from rehearsing the alphabet and letter sounds through to blending and segmenting and on to reading and writing.
